If you move further down the product page in the right hand column you will see settings for MU Product Type.
- Physical Goods: books, merchandise, regalia, equipment
- Event Ticket: conferences, workshops,graduation events
- Educational: courses, certifications
- Service / Appointment: invoiced services (staff-only)
- Miscellaneous Payment: fees, donations, one-off charges
Product types have an inherited VAT code assigned to them but if your product should overwrite this with another VAT Rate, select from the dropdown.
Event tickets #
Event Ticket is used for conferences, workshops, graduation events.
When selected the product can be used to display the following:
- Event date & time
- Venue name
- Location URL (Google Maps link)
- Pre-event instructions (shown on front-end & in confirmation email)
- Waitlist URL (shown when sold out)
Educational / Course #
Educational should be selected for courses and certifications.
Use this product type to sell courses or certifications. Care should be taken here to select the correct MU access and availability restrictions.
Service / Appointment #
Choose Service / Appointment for invoiced services (staff-only).
This is a custom payment method available only to staff. Staff member buys a service → order status Invoice Pending.
Invoice email sent automatically with a Pay Now link. The user clicks and gets brought to the checkout page.
Admin can click Resend Invoice from Service Orders at any time.
Supplementary orders
You can add an extra charge to an existing service order without creating a new transaction from scratch. This creates a child order linked to the parent, inherits the customer and department, reuses the invoice flow.
Both parent and child appear in Reports with the parent order number in the Parent Order column.
Miscellaneous #
Use Miscellaneous Payment for fees, donations, and other one-off charges.
